Have Sum Fun Competition - Lower Secondary (Years 8-10) 2008

The Have Sum Fun Lower Secondary Mathematics Competition uses a 'quiz night' format where teams of six students have to solve four rounds of eight problems.

Date

Friday 4 April 2008 at 7:30 pm. (Expected finish time 10:00 pm.)

Where

Three venues will be available:

• North - St Hilda's Anglican School for Girls
• South - Como Secondary College
• Bunbury region - Bunbury Catholic College (6:30 pm start)

Format

The students will work together in groups of six to answer problem-solving questions. The students will be given a series of questions (as in a 'quiz night') to complete within a set time limit.

Registration

• Schools are invited to nominate a maximum of two (2) teams of six students consisting of two students from each of years 8, 9 and 10. (If there are not enough students available in a year, then students from lower years can be substituted, eg Year 8s or 9s can be substituted for Year 10s.)
• Initially, one team will be registered and if there are sufficient places available after the closing date, a second team will be registered on a "first-in, first-served" basis. Schools will be informed if their second team has a place.
• Please register early as places are limited.
• Fax registration form to MAWA office by Friday 7 March.
• Confirmation of team placement will be emailed to the school by Friday 14 March.
• If you have registered a second team you will be informed whether this team has a place by Friday 14 March.

Payment Details

Please forward $33* per team (includes GST @ 10%) to MAWA by Friday 28 March 2008.
