Excellence in the teaching and learning of Mathematics in Western Australia

Mission

MAWA serves the community of teachers, students, parents and all others involved in Mathematics education by:

• recognizing and acknowledging excellence in Mathematics education in Western Australia
• being proactive in fostering improvements in Mathematics education in Western Australia
• providing opportunities for teachers to share experiences and enhance their teaching of Mathematics
• fostering student understanding and appreciation of Mathematics
• representing the membership body in all matters of Mathematics education relevant to Western Australia

Strategies

To achieve our mission MAWA will:

• uphold the objects and powers of the MAWA constitution
• promote Mathematics and the profession of Mathematics teaching in Western Australia
• provide access to networking and professional learning opportunities for teachers of Mathematics
• provide quality activities for students at all levels in Western Australia
• provide appropriate resources for both teachers and students
• promote the benefits and value of membership of the Association
• maintain dynamic links with the Australian Association of Mathematics Teachers and the wider community
